Title: Early ride out, watch this space.
Post by: Ukmongoose on February 11, 2016, 11:37:54 am
Hello Everyone!
Well, how are you all now we are living in the future?
This might be a pipe dream, but I am keen to get out for a ride if the weather looks even just dry dry, but it will start to warm up sooner or later.
So lets watch this space.
If anyone would like a blast out west or somewhere else even, just watch the weather and stick a post up.
KTM's welcome as I will probably be on my 690.
Happy 2016.
Ric.

The call of the KTM reaches far! How are you brother Rico?
Yes, plenty of warning... But make ready if the roads dry out, that's the main consideration really. If you fancy a tootle out and I haven't been in here, send me a text.
I am digging the ECU out of the Tuono and sending it to Gabro. Just waiting to hear back from Italy.
Ric.

Hello All.
Its snowing here today, but looking brighter so the snow may stop.
My ecu has been returned from Gabro and I rode the bike for 40 miles or so once its brain had been reinstalled. First impressions are good! I'm looking forward to taking it out for a proper go, but it feels considerably stronger everywhere. A result!!
I'm still keeping an eye out for  proper ride weather.....
Ric.

Sunny here, T-shirt weather yesterday and I do believe I caught the sun a bit on me face, that could be more to do with my ginger genes though. I just have to look at a post card and I burn. Off out for a bimble up to St. Mary's soon  happy88.

The best way for you to fit the wheels is straight onto my Tuoldo as they don't need any mods done  angel1

Title: Re: Early ride out, watch this space.
Post by: Ash on March 24, 2016, 12:21:08 am
I thought that the gen1 wheels were a narrower rim on the rear ie 5.5 instead of 6.0, not really what you want on a
V4, limiting the tyre size to a 180, although I may be wrong and of course, other opinions are available.

190's work on the Gen I, 200's don't but that's because they will hit the chain.

Hello hello,
There is a chance of a ride out around the west coast this weekend.
Anyone fancy a ride out west if the weather is fine.
I won't be doing any rain though.

Hey Aldo,
Good to see you yesterday, shame I am semi conscious most of the time and didn't clock you earlier mate.
Send me that text, but I don't think I will be heading south today as still bored rigid from van driving all week.
I'll be out for a few miles on the north road possibly as far as Durness though.
Ric.

Good morning all.
Up early today so thought I would look in and see what you were all up to.
How's the shower dodging going?
Aldo, how's your KTM and how are you getting along with the boys at Drysdale MC?
I am down that way on the 13th as my KTM is going in for a wide range gearbox transplant. I'll be staying in Stanley or Stirling so I'll let you know which and we can meet, possibly. I will be in the van though, most likely.
Ric.

Aye Ric give me a shout and if I'm not to busy I'll take a wander up to Perth.

Title: Re: Early ride out, watch this space.

I would really like to hear what you think so let's try to meet up.
Send me that text if you still have my number. I am loving my Tuono still, but am tempted by the 1100 factory....
I have to bring my Multi down weegie way soon, but I may do this as a ride. Can't rely on this weather though.
Why not get a 690 and a Tuono? I love my 690, but it's a slower (relative term) form of hooliganism.
Will you keep the Duke? Try sticking a screen on it to change perspective maybe?  happy88

Had to cancel the Dook service due to rain and birthday party.
I'll be doing it soon though and will be in touch.
In the meantime, the new shafts are in the gearbox of the 690, new 46 tooth sprocket on the way and 720 big bore kit arriving (inc new cam) first few days into September.
Whohooo! πŸ™ƒπŸ•‰

Title: Re: Early ride out, watch this space.
Post by: Ukmongoose on August 20, 2016, 01:46:31 pm
Allez!
I made a mistake. The big bore kit for the KTM is 730. That's an extra 40cc, so a bit like sticking a Honda 50 in it.
We've been having too much fun up here and I need to sober up, so next week, as the weather is looking kind of okay, would any of you peeps like to go for a ride out, probably after Wednesday. You would be aiding my rehabilitation, believe me  smile1

I think they would look dead chipper on a multi.
I got my forged ally ones off an 1198, but the magnesium ones would be better I think. I did notice a slight difference when they went on, but after a while thought I might be imagining it. Paid a grand for them, from Protwins in Surrey.

 Sounds like a plan.
I can't wait to see the result. But seriously, you will need to consider a remap/ PCV to get the best result. Your bike felt great, but you know the story after fiddling with induction and exhaust stuff, I'm sure.
I was out towards Tongue again yesterday, bloody marvellous.

Hello there, I am in Kent. How are you guys?
Tuono is having an RSV4 tail and Ohlins suspended at the front. John at Bikersworld is handling the transformation and the forks are there, but not fitted yet.
An exploratory squish tells me things that only William Blake could have dreamed of previously though.
Sunny here, off to Burgess Hill to have Kentish chitlins for lunch.
Hopefully get in a ride when we get back.

Never bothered with crash protection before as always thought if I'm going to ditch it theres going to mbe more damage than protection can save but after reading about the cost of damage caused by stationary & low speed spills I've invested in the full set of axle & engine sliders & casing protectors for my new ride.

Hello hello,
I haven't been in here for a while.
Not being unsociable, but been riding a bit locally but not strayed south of 'Ness.
How are you guys?
I have a wee question.
If one puts on a 15t front sprocket on the V4 aprc, what happens if you DONT recalibrate?
I have heard recently that it tricks the AWC and allows much later intervention, but makes lifting the front much more exciting whilst still having a 'safety' element. Has anyone any had experience of this?
I would really like to see how the parameters change on paper for all the functions.
I just tried ringing John at Bikers World in East Grinstead, but he'd left the shop/didn't answer. If I can get any info from him I will post it.
Are any of you up my way soon? The weathers a bit hit and miss recently, but looking okay for a few days next week.
Best wishes from Ric πŸŽ΅πŸŒˆπŸ•‰βš‘οΈ

I felt like going out for a real good blast today, went out and it was raining.
I put a 15 tooth on the Tuono (front sprocket that is) and I can't believe I didn't like it the last time, it's great!
Does anyone else still have a Tuono in here or should it be called KTM World these days?
I need to head down to Glasgow soonish to get the Multi done. Good excuse to hook up with some folks down that way?

'Ello 'ello.....
I may well be in Perth at Drysdales tomorrow. I'm staying in Stanley at the Tayside Hotel tomorrow evening if anyones about that way.
Foxy and I have the Tuono in the van and we're off to see John Coughlan in East Grinstead for a bit of TLC.
If anyone is located about the LEWES in SUSSEX area (or even if you're not!) and fancy a tootle about, let me know.
I will be darn sarf for a few days, so Ill check in here to see if anyones up for a ride. It still looks like summer in Sussex and Kent πŸ‘πŸ‘
For once, I might even be in here more than once a month!! I'm not unsociable really  eat4
Aldo... could you get over to Tommys tomorrow? He owes me a steering damper or Β£500.00! Okay, stop laughing at the back lads πŸ˜†πŸ˜†
Have a nice evening..... 🌞🌞

Sorry Ric no can do mucker, up to my eyeballs at work and off on my jollies on Sunday.

Still want to do the NC500 in the dark though or even a blast round the top in daylight.

I've been keeping an eye on the weekend weather for months now but every time it's favourable I've had something else on.

I'll give you a shout if I'm coming up your way.   happy88

Okidoke, catch you again soon though. I have to drag the multi down to DG soon if we dont see you up this way first.
I'd say you have a couple of weeks to do a night ride (I cant bring myself to mention that route as its screwing up our fun here......) before the frost sets in!
Gotta dash as running late this morning.
Ric.🎡🎡

Anyone else up for a ride in SE England? Just drop me a post on this thread folks πŸ‘πŸ•‰

Hampshire, not a kick up the arse away from Kent/Sussex. Box Hill or Bury Hill (near Arundel) aren't too far from me as a meeting point.

Is StrathHalladale where you're based?
I went up the road from Helmsdale to Melvich in my campervan in August, stopped at the back of the hostel in Tongue that particular night.
I couldn't drive those roads at night, they're tricky enough in the daytime and my night vision is poor anyway. Plus the main point of doing the roads is the fantastic views you get.

Well that was a pile of shit. Thousands of punters looking at billions of tons of scrap iron and busted plastics. As I was leaving at 10pm there were queues to get in and sad looking late-comers quick stepping towards the back of the queues! Hope I don't end up like that  sad33.

No shit, if I was to sell my Mutley over here, after it being a year old and 6K miles I'd get more than I paid for it.
Fuckin mental the price of stuff over here, everyone goes up north or over to UK for vehicles. The governments over here are nob ends I reckon. So much of what they do, and don't do, is just stupid.

 Hello all,
Well dont worry FTM as I went down south and did a ride or two and then got a virus which so far hasnt quite gone. A proper nasty do, but I am much better now.
I have a Revit β€˜Everest’ Gore Tex Laminate suit on Ebay if anyone wants it. I have hardly worn it.
Aldo, how are you  getting along wit’ Thomas and the KTM?
I might be down with my supermoto over the next couple of weeks.
Have a nice day,

Looking forward to a good ride out... the roads are actually drying here! But covered in salt and its 3c, so been oot in the van today.
Nob... I'd really like an update on your multi mods.
Rico and Aldo, hope to see you really soon, even if I’m down Glasgow way in the car early on.

Righto and listen up.
We’ve started a petition and its important that you guys get behind it.
Go to β€˜change.org’ and put in β€˜maintain Caithness’ and it will come up.
We already have over 2000 signatures but we need to maintain momentum.
Local MP is coming to see us, Northern Times are going to run a story.
Please help as its all about getting the roads back into top form and getting people like the NC500 who are making money out of the roads to take some financial responsibility for their maintainence.
You know this makes sense!

Good morning!
I’ve decided to put  Giamoto 20mm lowering rearsets and 25mm raised bars on my 2011 APRC.
The bars are on, but only just as I need new cables and a brake line and the originals appear to be waaaaay too short now, by three to four inches! Can this be possible? I cannot rotate the bars into a riding position at all and they are jammed forwards. They need to rotate back by easily 4 inches.
I’m not a gifted mechanic, so I need a little help. How easy is it to get the throttle cables off the demander/TPS, please and is this something I should try in my little cave here at Forsinard?
Living out here isnt ideal when things get a bit complicated, but I am muddling through with this.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Oh, and by the way, sorry for being absent in here. I dont mean to be unsociable.
Have a nice day!
Ric. πŸ™‚

Good evening .....
New bars on and in position 28mm up and a bit back. My first impressions are good!
New and 50mm longer everything to order - Brake hose/throttle cables/clutch cable.
I wasnt really sure what  to expect from the new riding position and although I havent actually ridden it, now I am really looking forward to trying the bike out.
Whipping off the cables tomorrow.
Have a nice evening from Ric. πŸ§ πŸ’πŸ•‰
