I managed out for a few hours,,,,,,,it was a wee bit on the cold side when moving but ok when stopped.

Decided to do the A713 that Gilo had suggested using later this month.

Went down to Elvanfoot and Wanlockhead then along the A76 to Thornhill and down the A702 to St John's of Dalry.

I decided to head for Ayr rather than do my intended route south along the A762 towards Castle Douglas and up the A713 to Ayr.

It was a cold but dry day and the roads were mostly empty,,,,,,,a good wee hurl.   happy119

I noticed the village has acquired a new place name sign.

How did you find the 713 A?  As I said, I remember it being a. good road, but memory does play tricks!

I didn't go as far south as Castle Douglas G.

From St Johns of Dalry heading towards Ayr it's basically a straight, fast A class road until a couple of miles south of Dalmellington where it gets nice and twisty.

I'll maybe get the chance to follow the route you took next weekend.   happy88

Looking forward to getting back up there A, lovely part of the world.  My brother lived in Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie, and Kirkpatrick Durham, he loved it there.

Great motorcycling and MTBing there too.

Aye G it's braw for both types of biking, even better when the weather obliges.

No guarantee but the end of May usually sees a fine run of five to ten days of cracking weather.

Fingers crossed it holds true to form.   angel2
