Dozy B%$£%^%$ me dropped the oil a couple of weeks back but the filter I got was the short one ............... wrong one.
 I have got a couple of long ones now and cannot recall which way it went ,,,,,,,,,,, Blank to the rear and open to the front or other way round.

Blank to the front mate.
The hole is to the rear.
New o ring if you can.
Also, clean the screen inside the oil tank every other change.

Or you could find like in the case of my Capo that the dealer you bought from that did a fresh oil change stuck the wrong filter in the wrong casing (short filter in long casing = no filtration!!)
